I went to Portsmouth and I knew my night would end at the Friendly Toast. I didn't know what I would find before that (Daniel St Tavern, see other review), but FT was on the agenda before I left home. Yes, it's pretty bohemian, but you can see that throught the window from the street, and if you don't like that sort of thing I'm sure you can find a cloth-napkin kind of joint.\r \r They have awesome burgers, smoothies, a big honkin' burrito, and a whole lot of breakfast to experience. The prices aren't great, but not outrageous. Nine ounce burger with chips or pretzels was about $10.\r \r Definitely some of what you're paying for at FT is atmosphere, and it is worth seeing. Don't get the impression the there's just a bunch of crazy crap on the walls like TGIF, but there is a whole lot going on, decor-wise. 50s-era dinette sets and advertising signs all over; I think it looks really cool, but see for yourself.\r \r My service was pretty quick and the kids working there may look a little different from the kids you'll see at the Gap, I bet the FT crew are friendlier and more courteous. more
