Before surgery, my uncorrected vision was 20/400 for distance and I had to wear reading glasses for near. I have dry eye syndrome, which precluded LASIK. Using a procedure that is basically like cataract surgery, Dr. Walters replaced my natural lenses with astigmatism-correcting lens implants in a monovision prescription. (In monovision, one eye is corrected for distance and the other is corrected for near. In a matter of weeks, the brain learns to rely mostly on one eye for distance vision and mostly on the other eye for near vision. I had been wearing contacts in a monovision prescription for several years.) He operated on my eyes one at a time, a week apart. Each time, the procedure and recovery were completely painless. Now my distance vision is 20/15 (which is better than 20/20), and my near vision is perfect. I'm absolutely thrilled with my results, and I very highly recommend Dr. Walters!
