Very delicious and delightful. It's hard to find restaurants just off i80 worth stopping for, especially between Iowa City and Chicago. This is definitely one! We had been traveling for 4+hours, and we were hungry. Between a shared appetizer and dinner, it was just the right amount - not too much, not too little, to head back out onto the highway.
Any negative review from 2005 doesn't count. The food is wonderful and prepared by a professional chef who teaches at a local culinary school. Duck breast and beef tenderloin were both perfectly cooked. A seasonal substitution for an appetizer on the printed menu was a delicious recommendation. Local, fresh ingredients are part of the chef's approach, giving the best and freshest dishes to the diner. The ambience was elegant and warm, and the service was exceptionally professional.
We cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It will definitely become a place we frequent whenever we are on the road... we may even make it a destination for us on other occasions (only about 1 hr from Iowa City). Check out their website! The food is as extraordinary as it sounds.
