I'll be the first to admit I'm a little picky about sushi. I just moved to San Antonio and have only tried one other place (Zushi sushi). That said, I read all the great reviews about Samurai and decided to check it out. The place was pretty dingy and run down so ambiance was pretty bad. I figured I've eaten great sushi in some dive places so I'd give it a shot. The food was mediocre at best. My wife got the tempura appetizer and the breading was caked on and dry, not very light or crispy as it should be. We ordered the dynamite appetizer which was really a mound of tuna stir fried with mushrooms topped with mayo. Then I tried to the sushi. They had a decent selection of rolls. Unfortunately the food was just so-so. The rice was not dried out but the amount of fish they put in the rolls seemed rather small. Overall, I was disappointed.
