I was recently surprised by Pioneer while having my home mortgage refinanced. I live in Belterra and Pioneer manage the HOA. In reviewing my closing costs on my refi I saw there was a $50 fee from pioneer. Now, why my HOA would get a cut of the action is beyond me. The answer is, because they can.
I called up and asked the person in charge of Belterra what this fee was for. She told me this is a standard fee they charge for all refi’s. I told her that was great but again WHAT IS IT FOR? She then tells me other management companied charge up to $200 for a refi. Again I asked her what is it that you do for $50? She then tells me it is to look up my account and fill in the paperwork my mortgage broker sent over. So, to type my name in their computer and write a 3 digit number I have to pay them $50. I complained to no avail. We here in Belterra are stuck with everyone’s hands in our pockets.
This company is quick to site you for any violation they can pin on you and then threaten to assess a lien against your mortgage. They even sited my for the plastic edging in the front of my house that the original builder put in! If you have a complaint or question, don’t expect them to get back to you to resolve it.
