I stumbled across this shop because of a listing in New York Magazine Weddings. Unlike some of the brides below, I liked the disheveled look of the boutique--it felt like a vintage shop--and I found the people working there to be generally helpful. (Though I wasn't thrilled when my salesgirl told me to stop back for a follow-up, then wasn't there.)
I fell in love with a dress that was priced at $1900 and was told there would be a $300 rush fee because my wedding was in three months. After reading the posts here, I decided to check with other shops that carry the same line. Lo and behold, I contacted a shop in Brooklyn--Artemida Wedding Gallery--which said the price for the same dress was $1195, with NO rush fee!
When I told the salesgirl at Designer Loft about the HUGE price difference, she said that it surely must be a different fabric (nope) or a counterfeit (please--I found the shop on the designer's own site). She said she would check with her boss and get back to me. I never heard from them again.
What a travesty. Thank goodness for these reviews on Citysearch. They saved me $1000, if you factor in the FAKE rush fee!
Buyer beware!!!
Cons: Dress overpriced by $1000 - and that is not a typo
