Dear Reader I had a long standing relationship with Studio 110 and even though there were times I was disappointed with services I would return because I like the staff and the salon always welcomed my dog. I have decided never to return to this salon based on some very poor judgment and lack of integrity by a head stylist who works with hair extensions. Two years ago I decided to go platinum blonde and over time my hair was breaking off and another stylist decided to cut my hair into a pointy v long in the back and short at the front. I got tired of growing out the layers and asked Anna Jackson if my hair could handle hair extensions. She wildly agreed and even though my hair was very long in back she ordered four bundles of hair and insisted I needed to cover all my own hair with great length so the look would be natural. I let her do the work and it cost me a total of $1600 or more but it looked nice. She urged me to wait 4 to 5 months even though other stylists from the internet suggest no more than 3 months or you will see damage to your own hair. After 5 months and her removal I noticed my own head of hair was considerably thinner in texture but Anna stated that we shed a lot of hair per day and this was normal. I was embarrassed looking like I had such a wreck of hair so I asked if I could have more extensions soon. She said pinch braids would be less damaging and less expensive. She told me to buy a certain brand of hair and see her the next day. The process of pinch braiding was very painful on my scalp and it took her six hours. No one ordered any food so you can imagine how aggravating and painful it was. When it was finally finished I was grateful to Anna that she dropped me off but my scalp ached the whole night and I had headaches for a week. I finally got used to the pain worried about my own hair falling off but Anna insisted this was normal and braids had to be tight. After two months I lost a lot of braids and Anna agreed to braid more hair in using Great lengths hair so I would have an easier time brushing the hair out. By August I finally had my pinch braids removed by a NY salon and I was horrified to see most of my fine curly hair had been ripped and shredded. I had never seen so much breakage and I would never recommend pinch braids to anyone with fine, curly chemically bleached hair. I would have thought that some one as experienced as Anna J would never have taken such a risk with my hair but maybe she just saw dollars signs and not a client who needed proper care. When I called Studio 110 to let them know what happened the manager would not call me back nor would Anna J. Each time I called to ask for a return call or an explanation a receptionist would inform me they were on vacation. I called one last time and the receptionist mentioned I had signed a waiver so therefore the salon was not responsible. My feelings were terribly hurt since I had been such a loyal customer. I used to go to this salon once a week for deep conditioning treatments and color. I even visited Studio 110 even after moving out of the city of Chicago. If this is the way they can treat a loyal customer just imagine how little protection you as a consumer will have should you decide to purchase hair extensions for fun. Hair extensions will always lead to damage depending upon the condition of your own hair and texture. If you have bleached your hair never use hair extensions because you will just end up shredding your already fragile hair and Studio 110 will not be liable for damages.
Pros: Always interesting conversation & pet friendly
Cons: Over priced and will not stand behind their work
