Expensive Disappointed 9/3/2009

Recently on August the 10th, I went to eat in south Arlington Piranha. Perhaps because my friend and I are both Japanese and we know real Japanese food, we expected a treat. We ordered Agedashi Tofu, Spicy Tuna Roll and Tuna Nigiri. However, with our very first bite, we both looked at each other and wondered what in the world we were eating. The food was very distasteful. And I love Tofu, but I just didn't like it at all and could hardly eat it. It wasn't just a matter of sending it back and ordering something else. Something in the way the dishes were prepared just wasn't right. As my friend and I spoke to each other in Japanese, we wondered why this place is so popular when the food is so terrible. We were so disappointed that we decided that we would not eat at Piranha's again. It's certainly not worth it for the money we paid.\r \r To be fair, we are Japanese and understand the delicateness of preparing real Japanese food. We hate to give Piranha's a bad review and a thumb's down, but truthfully, we did not like the food at all. It could be that I am misunderstanding Piranha's philosophy in that they are merely trying to imitate real Japanese food and their aim in preparing their dishes is for an American public with purely American tastes. That may work for some. However, imitating real Japanese food doesn't work for me. I have eaten at several mom and pop restaurants across the metroplex that serve far better food than this. more
