I went for lunch on July 1, 2009.\r \r I am a Realtor and I took a customer who was closing on their new home located within a 1/4 mile of Carmody's. We had been discussing the fact that there were a few local restaurants close to her new home. She wanted to try this one, and indicated that she had been there over 20 years ago, before she moved from the area.\r \r I had also been here on many occasions, beginning in 1976, but I had not been back over the last few years, I was also looking forward to contributing to a local business. I remember years ago, when the Carmody's (including Mike, who is now deceased) were on site, they were very professional about addressing customer concerrns.\r \r I had a special item off the lunch menu which was priced at $7.50, and included prime rib with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, and a tossed salad. These were all included for the $7.50 price, and certainly a good value. \r \r My customer, however, ordered an Angus burger, with no bun, and cole slaw and sweet potatoe fries. The waitress never indicated that the burger did not come with anything extra (not even french fries). We were talking and apparently missed the ""fine print"" as the manager implied. When we discussed what happened later, we realized that we assumed the burger came with a side, since this is the common practice on most lunch menus. When the bill came the Burger (which was the size of a small palm) was $7.25, the sweet potato fries were 2.50, and the small dish of cole slaw was $2.99. Her bill totaled $12.74, the price was more than some of their whole meals. The total bill was over $30 for lunch. The fact that we were not warned about the upcharge was not a good business practice. I asked to speak to the manager, who took the bill and then came back shortly after. He simply said that is the way it is.\r \r I told him I would not be back. After we left my customer told me that she would not be back, nor will her extended family. \r \r The quality of the food was just average.\r \r My suggestion if you decide to go: \r \r Be careful to check the fine print on the menu and ask questions about any extra charges before you order.\r \r Pros: Service was quick-late liunch Cons: waitress did not alert us to upcharges more
