SHOCKING - STAY AWAY 6/15/2009

This is your stereo-typical used car dealership. It's places like this that give car salesman a bad name. There are ethical dealers out there - unfortunately this isn't one of them. Not only are they dis-honest, but the service is absolutely horrible.\r \r I'm not going to get personal in this review, so I won't insult anyone in particular. I blame the dealership management for the quality and behaviour of their staff.\r \r The car I was interested in had a clean Carfax, which was pointed out to me. However, I had it checked out by a franchised dealer of the make, and they quickly pointed out that it had been in a severe front end collision that would have been obvious to any mechanic worth their salt. Auto Palace are either deceiving cheats, or their mechanics are morons - take your pick, but trust neither.\r \r Took the car back to get my deposit, which they agreed to - infact seemed genuinely apologetic. However, they only write checks on Tuesday's, so they couldn't give it me then. \r \r Called on Tuesday to confirm that I could pick up the check and was told they are not going to refund it all. Offered me a partial refund and was told to take it or lawyers would have to be involved. Took the refund to at least get some back, and am now waiting for my date in the small claims court to try and get the rest. By the way, the guy who writes the checks is there all the time - guess his pen only works on Tuesdays. Or it is some cunning way to keep your money longer and work out a scam to avoid giving it you back.\r \r Points to be aware off:\r \r Don't give them any cash or checks. If you must leave a deposit, do it on your credit card. That way, you can dispute any issues much more easily. If you haven't got a credit card - don't shop here unless you can afford to lose any depsoit you give them.\r \r Don't trust the Carfax - if some cowboy has half fixed up a car in his garage after a crash, it might not have been reported to Carfax.\r \r Get all cars inspected before you agree to a sale or give them any cash or checks.\r \r If you do all of the above and the car checks out well with an independant mechanic, then you might have a good deal.\r \r I think my advice applies to all car purchases from dealers. Some dealers may be understanding and helpful - these guys aren't.\r \r BEWARE!!\r Pros: Can't think of any Cons: There's not enough space to list them all here more
