I just bought my 6 mo puppy (23lbs) in because he ate grapes and I was told they're toxic to dogs. They enduced vomiting, told me all of the horror "what if's", then hit me with an $1100 bill (incl a boat load of tests that have NOTHING to do with the condition they're concerned about). She said he needs to be on IV fluids for 72 hours (ASPCA website RE: Poisoning, says 48 hours and only AFTER it has been established the kidney's are compromised). I guess they tacked on an extra day for the money. When I informed the doc I don't have $1100 and asked what can I do? She told me that it's the only way to save my puppy's life and if I want to try and get him to drink water, pedialite, etc. at home and hope his kidneys function I can do that. But if he starts to show signs of kidney failure, she said "Then we know we've lost"... WHAT?!? THANKS DOC!!!!
