Vets should love pets 5/15/2009

We were greeted when walking in the door by the vet who said "are you the ones with two dogs? Bring them in". He did not speak to the dogs, pet the dogs, or acknowledge them in any way. I was holding one of the dogs in my arms and he pulled out a syringe and stuck her before I realized what was happening. Our dogs have bulging eyes and we had to reposition her to keep her eyes from being poked with the needle. The appt. lasted less than 15 minutes for both dogs and cost 318.00 for boosters for rabies, bordatella, and distemper. He also made us do a heartworm test if we wanted more heartworm meds even though we do have vet records showing they have always been on interceptor. He wasn't friendly to the dogs at all. The exam was a joke. All he did was listen to their heart and that seemed like it was inconvenient for him.He also ordered a steak to go while we were waiting for the heartworm test. He didn't check their eyes, ears, joints, or anything. We are driving 350 miles this summer back to our hometown to have our vet check them out for health. One more thing, you have to buy interceptor and frontline from him only. He flat out told us (we didn't even ask) that he won't write a prescription for those things because we have to get them from him. "I won't write one for you to get it from pet meds." You would be better off buying the vaccine and giving the shots yourself. The whole point of going to the vet is to have the overall health of your dog evaluated, not just sticking them with a needle and charging over 300 bucks. Pros: Friendly Secretary Cons: Horrible experience, unprofessional and uncaring more
