Overpriced for quality 4/24/2009

I came to Jin based on the good reviews, therefore i was a bit inclined to imagine that the macarons were very good. However, something was still off, I was in denial, probably since i splurged 31.00 for a piece of cake and 16 macarons (yes im a pig), and wanted to convince myself that it was justified. However, after tasting the macarons at Chantilly in Torrance I realized it was a rip off. The macaroons at Chantilly are superb. The vanilla is the best ive tasted in my life, and ive tasted many. The chocolate is slightly bitter but very satisfying, and the rasberry is not too sweet and the filling doesnt taste like the cheap jelly filling that other rasberry macs have. The strawberry cake was excellent quality. The best part is that the price was about 38 percent cheaper than Jin. Jin's macaroons crumble easily and fail to hold that balance of chewiness and flakiness. The pistachio flavor is off and the vanilla is plain. overall they are average. and please dont get me started on their marquise cake. Not worth it. Pros: nice packaging Cons: quality more
