The whole police department operates like they are above the law. Why? Because the judge lets them. They work hand in hand with the judge and the District Attorney's office. I have had my run-ins with them and can testify to this but, of course, they wouldn't let me. A couple of years ago, some under cover reporters went to investigate the methods various police departments use in handing the public. Alameda was one of the worst in providing basic service to those citizens who walked in the door of their offices. The investigation found the whole department looked down upon its citizens and treated them like dirt. The results of the reporter's findings and the police departments answers was published in the local newspapers. Look for it at your local library. You will be astonished at how ""Alameda's finest"" treat and serve the public. Yet another example of your tax dollars ""hard at work"".
