I've had two awful experiences at Cesar's and won't be back.
I have a hard time believing all the good reviews, but it looks like Cesar's understands the importance of Citysearch and internet marketing (just look at their Citysearch page and website.) I don't know if they're manipulating reviews, but after two truly terrible interactions with them, I can't believe all the glowing comments.
My first bad experience came several months ago. I took in a pair of boots for new lifts and leather sole repair, and while the price ($40) seemed like a lot, I thought I'd try try Cesar's out. I went to pick my boots up right at closing one night (lights were on, door was open, they were helping a customer) and I was kicked out of the shop and told they couldn't help me because they were closed. I'd already paid, my boots were done and sitting right behind the counter!
Then yesterday, I took in a pair of shoes to get a price quote and again got a ridiculously high number ($30 just to replace heel lifts). Also, as I walked in the door, the man behind the counter was refusing to help a (well-dressed, courteous) woman who was asking him questions about a heel repair. He shooed her away and didn't seem to know anything about the repair she was asking for. She looked at me incredulously and said ""I think we're having a communication issue!""
I took my business elsewhere and had the work done for $10 less, with no hassle.
Every interaction I've had with Cesar's has left me feeling uncomfortable and angry, like they don't want me (or anyone else) as a customer. Maybe they're coasting on their undeservedly high internet reputation, but I can't believe they still have customers!
Cons: Unpleasant, unhelpful staff, too expensive
