As a FORMER Century 21 employee your comment is accurate and I concur. I'm sorry to hear about your situation with you, your sister and LP(lost prevention A.K.A Security). Like you said the store offers money to employees if they find anybody stealing products and it's a bad thing. Alot of people were wrongfully accused of stealing many of times, because employees and LP try to gain a few bucks at the expense of innocent people who were simply shopping and minding their business. Many times LP's don't respond to the reports from other employees of a customer stealing because they want the extra $$ for themselves which is more money for non-LP employees. So instead of the employee (who made the report/call) receiving the money the LP guard will get his due. This happened to me a few times.
This shows how corrupt the store can be. I can't comment on the other C21 stores within the tri state area, but I can definitely vouch for the C21 Manhattan Store. They got alot of malicious employees mostly within the management. NOT TO MAKE IT A PERSONAL VENDETTA OR A GRUDGE AGAINST THE MANAGERS but when you have 2 dept. managers and around 5 asst. managers in a dept. it will cause havoc. 1 manager and 2 asst. manager should be enough to operate a dept. Most of the managers(not all) have no life outside of work, they have a low self-esteem, they will disrespect and walk over the employees like we're a piece of newspaper on a busy NYC sidewalk during rush hour.At times I get the impression they get a trill in treating people bad at work, hence "no life outside of work". This will result in a low morale and employees treating the customers rude and employees having grumpy attitudes (as you can see by the comments posted) because of the way managers act and treat their employees. If this store is serious about improving their customer service and work atmosphere they should really consider terminating alot of managers. They should start in Lost Prevention (few managers in LP feel like they're above THE LAW when in reality they're not), then get rid of "A Particular Female Manager" in the men's dept. and work their way on throughout the store other departments.
Overall, C21 is a great place to buy nice clothes and I definitely recommend it. But I personally do not recommend working there unless your just looking for a summer job as a college student and if your an honesty person who don't steal, watch out for LP. I'm just glad I?am no longer an employee at that store because I would've needed a Costco size anti-depressant from the things an employee got to go through with the managers. I thank God I've moved on toward bigger and better things than C21, thanks to a Big East college education.
PS- I left on my own terms(wasn't terminated).
Pros: great store, great products, best store in NYC to shop in
Cons: horrible customer service and managment
