I have to admit, at first I was skeptical when my boyfriend suggested checking this spot out, expecting the typical 42nd avenue dive bar. But I was pleasently surprised when I walked into to this place, tucked in beside the cheap mexican restaurants and the weird knights of the columbus building.... The dark wood, simple but classy decor, great layout (with plenty of cozy booths for couples), and the cool old bar definitely stood out amongst the surroundings. The owner Matthew was prompt and super friendly and we felt very at ease here, but again, being slightly skeptical I was def not expecting much as far as the menu went. So imagine my surprise when we our food came (I ordered the southwestern caesar and he got the pulled pork sandwich) and they were fabulous. Since then, we've tried the biscuits and gravy ( also very good, especially considering that my boyfriend is from North Carolina and has a hard time finding anything but hard hippie biscuits here) and a few other things off the menu, and every experience has been very satisfying----NOT just because it is right around the corner from us, though that is also a plus. I really, really hope this place sticks around, because we plan on frequenting it for years to come!
Pros: unlike anything around it, good food, great service
Cons: the parking lot is itty bitty but that's all the more reason to walk!
