I think the quality of your cut here depends a LOT on the stylist. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get my hair cut right away, but the stylist, Narcy, was not very good. She was listening to her iPod the entire time she cut my hair - granted, she only took about 5 minutes on the whole cut, which was extremely sloppy. I have very short hair and she cut it very poorly - I had to fix the back myself as soon as I got home because it was so uneven. She did ask me whether I wanted her to use scissors or a razor, which was nice, and the cut was only $17. I will probably go back to Astor Place Hair, but I will make sure not to have Narcy again, and I will also make the stylist show me the back of my head in the mirror so I can avoid a repeat of this incident. I think the bottom line is that you have to make sure to get a stylist you know is good, and you have to make sure the cut is good and not let them rush you out until you're happy with it.
