Fresh Italian food in the European style 12/26/2009

The owner, who is European, takes every order and puts every plate up when it is ready. If you like thin and crusty pizza, like we do, they have it. There are plenty of places with cheese cheese cheese, but a thin, crusty pizza is hard to find. The shaved steak sandwich is very popular; the steak is great, so just have it with maybe fried onions and a little cheese, philly style, and forgo all the other toppings. The tomato bread (a long and thin soft roll with bruschetta) is one of the most popular items and works as a side dish with anything; it is fresh and flavorful. The caesar salad is also very good--large and tasty. Every plate at the tables around us was attractive and generous in portion. Little things tell a lot. The kitchen and counters are impeccable, even the condiments at the wait station. The shelves with vases and flowers in the dining room are spotless. When the owner puts up every plate himself, diners can be fairly certain the food will be good. We were there for lunch (with several regular customers). After the rush, the owner mingled and chatted with his customers. Small places like this should be treasured and supported. For lunch or dinner, it's just a few minutes' drive from Towson or the York Rd. corridor. Pros: Fresh and perfectly executed Cons: None found yet more
