Golan is a long-standing centerpiece of the Jewish community. The restaurant itself is a lot like a big, friendly family room. You can expect to see people you know there, especially people from the Jewish community that you haven't seen in ages, people visiting from out of town, people you miss . . . you get the idea. The service is excellent, but you can expect your meal to take longer than it would in a fast-food establishment, since your order is prepared when placed. Did I mention that the food is extraordinarily delicious? A previous poster implied that Golan has an identity crisis -- Israeli? NY Deli? Chinese? In reality, Golan knows exactly what it is, and exactly who its customers are: families that are having breakfast out; families visiting other families from out of town who just want something yummy and familiar; people who want Chinese food that's kosher as a special treat. That's not an identity crisis -- it's a wonderful slice of the Jewish community in the San Fernando Valley. And that is why we love Golan! Pros: Delicious kosher food; warm environment; family friendly Cons: Like all kosher food, pricey; fresh food so it takes longer more
