The owners of this establishment have several unfair business practices. During a recent flooding incident the owners of this park wanted to avoid losing tenants due to the rising water. They failed to inform anybody of an impending flood after they told everyone that they would give the tenants ample prior notice so that they could get out. Because of this, a large majority of the tenants staying here had to evacuate the park in the middle of the night and go elsewhere..some to the parking lot adjacent to the marina with no lights or water. Sewage lines for parts of this park are not underground or fitted together appropriately. Raw sewage piping is sitting above the ground taped together with duct tape. Owners failed to cap off the ends of these lines and when the park flooded sewage backed up in the inlet and got into the river. Soil is boggy and unsanitary. Tenants who had paid lot rent for an entire month were denied any sort of a refund because they were told that it was the marina's policy to give credit but not refunds. Owners finally agreed to issue partial refunds but came up with several ""new rules"" after the flooding such as storage fees for parking trailors and boats in the park . The tenants were going to be charged back storage cost which was very puzzling being that they were told there was no fee for parking their boats and trailors there while they were paying monthly rent in the park. Owners told several lies and avoided phone calls regarding refunds. The food cooked in the kitchen at the bar is alright..nothing to brag on. The bar is small and gets crowded. Aside from that they allow smoking inside of the bar which violates Illinois law. There is also a lot of late night noises and carrying on by the drunk patrons of the bar. There are pleasant sounding descriptions of this marina on several online sites, but it is the complete opposite of what you might imagine. On a plus side, it is one mile from a bar and grill located in New Athens called The Bullpen. The food, drinks, and service are excellent. I would highly recommend checking it out if you are ever over that way. Pros: On the River..In New Athens, a nice little town. Cons: See below..too many to fit in this space.. more
