High Pressure Sales Tactics! Avoid Hansons!! 11/25/2009

I decided to call Hansons for a quote to replace my home windows and signed up for a free in home estimation on their website and below is my poor experience with Hansons. 1. Their rep called me and asked me if my wife will join me or not. They even asked her name and told me to ensure that she stays home during estimation and demonstration. That was just the beginning of my annoying experience. 2. The Hanson Rep showed up very next day and took measurements, made a lengthy computer presentation , criticized all the window manufacturers, showed us on computer that Hansons is #8 in the 625,000 home renovation companies in the US (We learned from this forum that this is not true and he clearly lied to us!). We also noticed that the rep had no in depth knowledge about the window construction as he asked for our pardon at least 3 times after we asked him some tricky questions which he just guessed and answered and found himself in trouble. 3. Later when I told him about visits by other competitors for estimation, he insisted that I tell him the quote numbers from them before he gives me his quote!! He was so adamant that he 'begged' me to at least give him a range that they quoted us and the price we expect from Hansons. 4. He later showed us his quote and told us that his is the best quote and we must order it today to get that price!! After long conversation, we told him that we need time to think and will call him back. The guy insisted that we MUST make a decision to buy right there and also said arrogantly that we will be' Fools' to just let him go without buying and signing up!! Now that was the 'rudest' comment I heard from any sales person!! 5. He just didn't stop there...!! He said he will wait outside in his car to give us privacy and make decision. Guess what? He was waiting outside for 25 minute...when we thought he would just go away, but he didn't!! I went outside and told him that we can't make decision today and that he can leave...He gave me that real 'bad' look and said that he never left a house without selling and this is for the first time he is leaving without having a customer sign up. He even told me that Hansons will have some losses because of this waste of his time today at our home...( that comment was very weird !!) I could see the guy was very angry. I came back home and saw this forum and I am glad we didn't sign up or buy from Hansons today..and will absolutely never ever consider Hansons even for free estimation.
