Great doc but VERY inconvenient 10/8/2009

I have been dealing with this practice for 3+ years now. (after writing this, I'm not sure why I haven't gone elsewhere). The up side is that the optometrists have always been kind, patient and professional. The optometrist I first went to has since left the practice, but the new optometrist who took her place is also great. The down side here is that your odds of reaching the office are about equal to your odds of winning at a slot machine. The office must have one incoming phone line and no automatic voice mail--most of the time you get a busy signal. When you do get through (and you are fairly excited to hear the phone ring), you often get an answering machine that asks you to call back during normal business hours. However, the message doesn't tell you what those might be. In addition, their website (yes, they do have one) does not list their ""normal"" business hours. It takes me on average about 10 times to get through to either the Amesbury or Newburyport office each time I call. In addition, the office staff is not always pleasant when you do reach them. I did reach a very pleasant woman in Newburyport today, however, when I told her about the problem, she said she couldn't do anything about it and that I should write a letter and drop it off at the Newburyport office. Although I don't fault her for this advice, I find the suggestion ridiculous given the options of modern technology. Anyone have a suggestion for another optometrist in the Newburyport area? Pros: optometrists are very nice Cons: nearly impossible to reach a human via the phone more
