Overpriced, mediocre quality and intimidating atmosphere 10/6/2009

Russell's was a stop for my family on a road trip between New England and Atlanta. We stopped there around 7pm on a Sunday evening and the place was far from welcoming. After finding the correct entrance by wandering through the bar to inquiring looks from the patrons, we were (eventually) greeted by a harried looking server and after much fussing with what looked like an appointments book and whispering between a couple of servers (with sidelong glances at us) we were shown to one of the many empty tables behind the bar area.\r \r The entrees seemed overpriced at around $25 and, given our intial welcome, were not something we were prepared to gamble on. Our eventual selection of soup and salad was OK, although the minestrone was hardly stunning and the salmon bisque was gelatinous, but quite tasty. The house salad was underwhelming and overdressed.\r \r We left in a hurry thirty minutes later, wallet $50 lighter and actually relieved to get away from the stares of the local patrons. Pros: Food was palatable and service was pretty quick Cons: Less than warm welcome, overpriced more
