My regular nail salon in Santa Cruz was closed temporarily, so I made an appointment with Hanh at Alooks based on the salon reviews here. I was really happy! Hanh took more time with my nails than did my usual technician in Santa Cruz, and she did a much better job. Normally, my acrylics will begin to separate around the edges after the first several days. But that did not happen when Hahn worked on them. In fact, more than a week later, they still look great. And the gel coating was perfectly smooth, with no ""fuzz"" or bumps or irregularities. She took a lot of time to get the edges perfect, to match the nail lengths, to clean up my cuticles, and to make a very thin but strong nail. (My previous technician made very thick nails that did not hold up as well.)\r

Hanh takes more time, and she charges a few dollars more than my previous salon, but the difference is well worth it for nails that continue to look great. \r

The salon is also convenient to anyone working downtown, so you can take a long lunch to get your nails done. Nearby restaurants and cafes are great for grabbing take-out on the way back to work. If you park in the city garage next door, it will cost about $10, so you might try parking on the street at the meters (a few are on Post Street), or you can walk because it's close to Market St, Santa Clara, etc. \r
