If your idea of class is a ?80 Cutlass with an iridescent paint job, $5000 rims, and a 50,000 watt sound system; then the W Hotel in Midtown is the place for you. The hotel was remodeled from an old Sheraton using a lot of black and chrome. The attempt to be hip and trendy is undermined by the cheap room furnishings and antiquated infrastructure. Air conditioning problems abound in this hotel (rooms and hallways) and the water pressure was abysmal. My reservation was incorrect and I had to pepper the concierge to get anything other than promises and platitudes. The rates were fairly steep and yet the hotel constantly nickel-and-dimes the guests for every service and supply.\r

The hotel is also the current Atlanta hot nightspot for the rap music industry, and alternative lifestyle community. Take this as a plus or minus depending on your tastes. You can see celebrities and other interesting people doing interesting things at the hotel lounge and lobby in the evenings.\r

On the very short list of plusses: the rooms were well supplied with towels, the rainfall shower head made up for the lack of water pressure, the rooms had HDTV, and the location is convenient to downtown Atlanta. I also want to give a big shout out to the valet and porter staff for their courtesy and service.\r

This is more of a place for young people with large amounts of disposable income to be seen than a place for professionals and experienced travelers to stay. The latter groups being advise to avoid this place at all costs. Horribly over-priced, definitely not a place for families or seasoned professionals; this hotel is oriented to x-gen DINCs, urbanites, and metrosexuals.
Pros: Location
Cons: Too many to list
