Do Not Buy Omega Meats 9/5/2008

I bought 3 cases of meat (beef, chicken & pork) from Omega Meats' saleman, Jarius. He was quite the salesman and always had an answer for anything that I questioned. He charged me for the case of beef for $429.40 (+ tax) and ""gave"" me the cases of chicken and pork. When he was figuring the sales tax, he was explaining to me how he calculated it, and it made no sense whatsoever (I am a numbers person). So I calculated the amount and come to find out he was charging me 6% sales tax which doesn't exist in Virginia. We have a 2.5% sales tax on food -- he said not on frozen food! Can you believe it. I told him that it didn't matter whether the food was frozen or not -- and I think he could tell that this would be a deal-breaker if he tried to charge me more. (I wonder how many other people he had ripped off that day by overcharging on sales tax). I asked him how many pounds of meat I was getting and he said about 30 lbs. -- but that I was getting 3 cases. So that would equate to 90 lbs. right? After he left, I weighed every piece of meat and got a total of 56.87 lbs which means I paid about $7.55/lb. Which is way too much for the quality of these meats. What a rip-off. The beef is probably the worst meat I've ever eaten. I told him that I knew good beef and he said I would not be disappointed -- that it was better than Omaha Steaks. Are you kidding me? I don't know how this guy sleeps at night. So when some guy comes in your driveway late in the afternoon telling you that your neighbors have bought from him and that he only has a couple of cases left and is going to give you a really great deal -- tell him you are a vegetarian! Cons: Extremely poor quality of meat, extremely over-priced more
