Alamo Animal Hospital is fine for routine care of simple, straightforward health issues: administering shots, performing annual exams, dealing with punctures and abrasions, things like that. But if you have an elderly cat with a complex health issue such as cancer, I urge you to take your cat to UC Davis Veterinary teaching hospital instead. \r \r My cat was 17 and had developed several subcutaneous sarcomas. Because X-rays were not done until AFTER the surgical removal of the sarcomas, I did not realize that the surgery was pointless. Apparently, the vet didn't care to find out, and I was too credulous to question whether the pre-surgery workup was all it should have been. The post-surgery X-rays showed that the cancer had already spread to the kidneys and bladder. My cat suffered in agony for a week and a half from the surgery and the undiagnosed kidney and bladder cancer.
