I went in with abdominal pain and they did not find anything wrong. They sent me a total bill of $11,250. There were many charges but the three largest were $1600 Visit Fee / $4400 CT Scan / $4100 CT Scan. Accoding to American Medical Association Medicare reimbursement rates (as per their website) the rates for Medicare are $109 Visit Fee / $343 CT Scan / $337 CT Scan. BIG DIFFERENCE. What I should have done: Gone to a primary care physician ($300) and had him send me to an outpatient clinic which would have charged me $600 for each CT scan for a total of $300 + 2x$600 = $1500. I have insurance (Aetna) but even with insurance I ended up paying $6250 (Aetna paid $5000). REFUSE ALL CT SCANS AT SETON. Instead, go to a primary care physician and request a referral to an outpatient clinic. Pay $1500 NOT $11,250.
Pros: Near my house
Cons: Egregious cost -- $11,250 for undiagnosed stomach pain
