Not worth it- you might as well sell your things on Craigslist! 7/17/2008

I've been in Children's Orchard a few times, but had never purchased anything. When I decided to get rid of my baby's unused bassinett (he was not a fan...) I thought I'd try selling it to Children's Orchard rather than listing it on Craigslist. The bassinett was currently selling at Babies-R-Us for $140. Mine is in perfect condition- it really is unused- so I thought I'd be able to get a pretty good deal. I had my 6 month old with me, so lugging the item in was going to be a chore, but the salesgirl held my little one for me (after I asked her.) After putting the bassinett all together and making sure everything was in working condition- the lady that does the estimates (not the salesgirl) offered me 35 DOLLARS! I was shocked- it costs $140 new, so of course I had to turn her down. How much of a profit are they intending to make? I understand it's a business, so they are looking att he bottom line, but WOW. The worst part of the experience though, was that no one offered to help me get my baby and the bassinett back to the car. I stood there contemplating for a few minutes- hoping that someone would offer to help- but no one did. I eventually had to put my son in the bassinett and pull it out to the parking lot- down stairs and everything! A customer is the only person who offered to even open the door for me. Thank goodness for kind people! Anyway, this place definitely will not receive my business. Paying too low for items that they will double the price of to sell is one thing, but that fact that when I chose not to do business with them they wouldn't even offer to help is just unprofessional- especially when I had a baby with me and it's 100 degrees outside. more
