We have been coming to Coney Island amusement park since my kids were really little. Usually, we arrive after 4pm, and buy the wristbands. Really cheap fun. Sometimes if there is no line, the ride operator will just let you stay on the ride, over and over again. (My daughter once rode the carousel over ten times in a row.) It is just really easy. Walk around a little, ride some rides, win some prizes, see a "show" and head back to the car -- a nice, low stress outing.
