We've eaten at El Porton for years and for a long time you couldn't go wrong there - good food, generous portions, reasonable prices and good service. Then a few years ago the place got sold to new owners & the change is palpable. The servers are unfamiliar and unhappy - the food erratic - and the old congenial atmosphere is faded away. On a good night, they still have the best Carne Asada anywhere - and the Aroz con Pollo is huge & excellent if the vegetables aren't overcooked ( it's best at lunch - I think they make a giant kettle & it sits all day). There are better Mexican Restaurants in Yakima & I miss the good old days of El Porton...
Pros: Carne Asada
Cons: Erratic - servers seem unhappy
