I recently moved to the Austin Area and a friend recommended Wolf Camera as a great local shop. I went in a couple of weeks ago to buy a new camera bag, and was disheartened by their tiny selection. They did take the time to find the bag I wanted and order it for me. It would be here in three days they assured me. A Week later, I hadn't heard from the. I called. My bag was there. No explanation as to why I wasn't called.
when I picked up the bag I also wanted to purchase a few basic accessories. I needed a couple of lens caps and a rocket blaster. They didn't have any of it.
About a week later I went in to purchase a tripod, since mine hadn't been lost in a move. I purchased one and took it out of town a few days later to shoot with it. the first time I tried to set it up, the lock on the center column snapped off in my hand. It was clearly either defective, or just of really poor quality. I had to make a run to a big box store to get a quick replacement.
When I got back to Austin, I returned the tripod with receipt, explained to them what happened and told them I'd like to be refunded. Rep informed me he wouldn't refund it because it was broken and "anything could have happened to it." He then told me he'd do me a favor and exchange it. I explained I didn't need another poor tripod, I wanted my money back. He told me to contact the manufacturer. I told him I had purchased it from him, he should take it back and contact the manufacturer. He told me "Well we don't want to do that anymore than you do." he actually had the nerve to suggest I should just Sell it on eBay if I didn't want it. to which my reaction was "Are you kidding me?" He informed me I could probably even make a profit on it. In the end he refused to provide a refund, and I agreed to take the exchange and then find a new store to do business with.
Poor inventory, lazy, rude, patronizing service. Three visits was enough for me. I won't shop Wolf Camera again.
Pros: I didn't find any
Cons: I don't shop anywhere that implies I'm a criminal, or doesn't believe in customer service.
