Tipping lesson 5/5/2008

The food and service are excellent. I have eaten here for lunch and dinner many times. I must take exception to yordanopoulos' tipping. It is commonly accepted that you tip every time you dine with an individual serving you. You can not take a night off tipping by claiming poverty. If you can not afford the tip, then do not eat out. Wait staff earn around $3 per hour. Tipping is part of their compensation. Under no circumstances should you leave no tip without speaking to the management. If the service is so bad that you feel no tip is called for then you should speak to the management. The manager did the right thing confronting you. He is taking care of his employees even at the cost of losing your future business. I was a server for three years and was never stiffed so it is not common to not leave a tip when you receive good service. If your bill is $50 than the tip should be a minimum of $7.50, with $10 being customary. The $2-$5 you mentioned is not acceptable for good service. I am glad you were embarrassed, you deserve it. more
