I recently brought my cat to the Whitman VCA b/c he needs to be neutered according to the regulations of the complex I was moving to. I called to make an appt. and was told that since my cat hadn't been to a vet in 1 1/2 years he'd need a full physical, shots and bl00d work-up to make sure he could handle anesthesia for the surgery. Over the phone I was told this would cost me approximatey $136 - I was infuriated b/c I wouldn't spend that much on myself let alone a cat! But I didn't feel I had any other choice... the "good" people at Waggin' Spay say I make "too much money" so I had to go and pay a real vet for the procedure.
Pros: Close by to where I lived
Cons: Unreliable estimates, too much emphasis on "up-selling" the customer, no income guideline flexibility or sliding scale, no flexibility for choice of services - every service is a "must"
