Every time I visit New Orleans, I plan on spending Monday nights at the Maple Leaf. Papa Grows Funk carries on the tradition of great music from about 10 PM till closing. Friendly crowd that's a mix of locals (mostly) and out of towners, great bartenders, and music that makes you want to move. If you can get there early enough, eat at Jacques-Imo's two doors up the street. Great food and great service. A night out of the French Quarter - imagine that!
Pros: reasonable cover, outdoor patio, two bars, friendly crowd
Cons: it's a cab ride from FQ and warehouse district, on hot nights it is warm inside
