I visted the store once with my persian to be groomed, but I didn't go through with it. It was in the early summer, she gets a little matted so I have her get a lion cut in spring/summer time. When I went to Fins Fur Feathers I met Besir and asked him about the grooming. He said it was $60 up front, I would have to pay first, then leave Smokey there. I asked if I could wait for her and he said no, it would be a few hours.. so I asked if I could just come back with her at an appointment time and he told me no, they don't do it that way. I asked if I could be present and he said, no not for cats - only for dogs- you can be present. He said they do the cats down stairs in the basement because it's quieter and less stressful for the cat. I didn't feel right about it so I declined. Made an appointment with Paws and Claws on BR Ave. They did not require payment up front and they did let me stay and wait for her. I don't know how true the ABC news report is but I saw it on TV. I wouldn't be comfortable knowing that the accused groomer is still working there while charges were pending. Smokey can be aggressive sometimes and I wonder if they didn't harm Nusha while trying to control her. Maybe it was an accident and unintentional abuse, still I wouldn't chance it. Also that they told the News they didn't remember was alarming. I just think it is wierd to charge up front and take them in the basement. I wouldn't take a chance until/unless they are cleared of the charges in court. Out of curiosity I called the Brooklyn DA and he definately was arrested by the ASPCA but the case is still pending in court and has not gone to trial. It was postponed twice in March and April. Pros: not sure Cons: pay up front, won't let you watch, grooming in basement more
