I read sparkling reviews of this place on citysearch, and on other websites like yelp. The stairs were filthy, and the place looks post-nuclear. Nevertheless, I decided I'd give it a try.
The stylist listened to my description of what I wanted, and held out my hair to confirm the length I wanted. Then he grabbed an electric shaver and destroyed the majority of my head. I stopped him before he reached the top, and he apologized, assuring me that he could salvage the cut. Salvage he did not. He whipped out a pair of scissors and began chopping wildly at odd angles, which ultimately resulted in a "cat with mange" look on my crown. Exasperated, and with no more hair to cut, I told him just to take it all off. I now look like Britney's double. Emotionally scarred, I ran from the stylist to the payment desk, and complained; the cut was still $15.
Do not go to this place. Rita sounds amazing, but there is only one Rita, and a bunch of maniacs with scissors. It's like Sweeney Todd in the flesh. The price isn't that great either--the costs will be quickly reabsorbed in the therapy you'll need.
Pros: You'll have hair like Brit-Brit's!
Cons: You'll need a wig afterwards.
