best calimari in the world 2/16/2008

I lived in Hawaii for a few years and my ex-husband and I always looked for a good place that wasn't too expensive and away from the big city. We found Phuket thai one day at the millilani shopping mall and were skeptical at first. I have never been a huge fan of ethnic foods. However the food here is absolutely amazing. you would never know just walking by. Its an intimate setting, that is best to go to on weekday nights because it gets very busy on the weekends. You have to try the calimari appatizer, if your a fan...and even if your not because i know you will like it. its not the tiny over fried little bits you get at almost any midwestern restaurant on the mainland with the normal marinara dipping sauce. They are impressivly huge golden crisped pieces that are just so good. And they give you this kind of spicy honey mystery dipping sauce that just wraps up the flavor. My favorite dish was the seafood paenut curry, or panang seafood I think it was called. Gotta get a side of sticky rice with that. Anyways, they give you lots of seafood in this curry such as shrimp/calimari/scallops/ and sea bass. I always got it mild because i'm a wuss, but it was spicy enough for me and anyone else who can't handle too much spice. The peanut curry was so good, its creamy and not too thick, perfect to pour over some sticky rice. We must have gone there every 2 weeks after we first tried it until we moved. I now live back in Ohio and crave my panang curry all the time. I'm ready to fly back just to eat there it was so good.. I think that should make you go try it huh? I've tried other thai restaurants and seafood curry's in ohio but they dont even come close to phuket. It makes me and my stomach very sad :( Eat there for me, please :) Pros: huge servings, great un-annoying service, super tasty more
