I love vintage stores. I've been shopping in them for years. You can almost always find an original unique dress, top or shoes. I found a dress I liked at Cream but it had a hole in the material at the bottom and I wanted it hemmed to my knees any way. So I purchased the dress, had the new hem line measured and went on my merry way very excited about my purchase. When I picked up the dress I was horrified. The material is a very light fabric and the original hem was probably an inch maybe an inch and a half. The new hem was tiny and when I tried the dress on it fold over from the inside and had a pucker-wavy certainly not the way it was or should look. Beside that the stitching was uneven all the way around. It sucked. I point it out to the alterer and she said it just needed to be pressed. I pressed it when I got home and that definitely is not the problem. The problem is the fabric is too light for such a tiny hem. Now I can either adjust the hem and the dress will be shorter than I want it or I can leave it as it is and have the hem showing. Likely I'll never even wear the dress and in six months it'll go to Good Will. My advise, if you shop at this store definitely don't have them alter your garment. Or don't pay before you see the altered garment, the shop has No Refunds and No Exchanges. Go figure. This was my first and last time at that store.
