I recently had the pleasure of being invited to Au Petit Paris by some friends for dinner. I am blown away when a restaurant gets it right. I arrived a few minutes early so I could have a drink at the bar and every member of the waitstaff approched me to make sure I was ok and I didn't need anything. I listened to the hostess receive the evening's diners with a cheerful greeting every time and enjoyed my drink. The wine list is reasonably priced and the selection of great French wine is outstanding. Once my friends arrived, we were seated promptly and our great dining experience began. For appetizers, our host ordered sauteed Frog Legs, Chicken Tart, and Foie Gras. I am not sure how to verbalize how good they were. The Frogs legs were simple and perfectly sauteed, the Chicken Tart was served in a tart shell that was obviously fresh and very flavorful and the Foie Gras is the best that I have ever tasted in the Houston area. For our second course, we had various other salads and a Brie cheese plate. My salad was put together very well, it had a poached egg and prosciutto with an shaved aged Parmesian cheese over mixed greens, I recommed this salad to anyone. For my main course, I opted for slow braised Beef Cheeks, thats right, Beef Cheeks! This dish blew me away. The cheeks were savory and so tender that I did not even need a knife and perfect for this time of year. The waiter explained that the chef keeps his menu offerings suited to the season, good job on that one. After dinner, our host suggested that we order a few of the desserts so we could get a good sample of the offerings. We had a Grapefruit Tart with Lemon sorbet, Crepes with melted French Chocolate and French Vanilla ice cream and a Chocolate cake with a molten Chocolate and Mango center, all were delicious. I was so impressed with this meal, I treated my host to bottle of Veuve Cliquot. Thanks for the experience and keep up the good work
