Mingle New York is a great find. It's peaceful, yet you quickly get the idea that people are here to do the best by you as efficiently as possible. And for a guy like me, whose meager, thin hair faired poorly far and wide until?shout out here?I found the best hair cutter in the trade, Ms. Dawn, well, this is the only place to consider. Don't just rush by this block of West 55th street (between 5th and 6th) on your way to an appointment, either. Surprisingly, it has a bit of the feel of an older, slightly less glitzy New York that I remember from years back. Be sure to meander down the block to check out some of small, cozy bars and restaurants. If you're a tourist/architecture lover, don?t miss the sanctuary of the 5th Avenue Presbyterian Church, just across the street at the corner of 5th Avenue and 55th. The church, celebrating its 200th anniversary year, sports a peaceful sanctuary perfect for a break, with a unique ringed balcony, enormous pipe organ, and some gorgeous stained glass windows. Pros: Expert cutters, quiet, bs-free environment Cons: Can't think of much anything. more
