I contact RP for a toilet and valve replacement. They were prompt in arrival and worked up a price list of different options. I chose the cheapest options which was still 1100+. I hadn't done my research on toilets so I assumed that their price was fair considering how many positive reviews they had. The work was completed fine without issue.
The issues started after I began some additional research. After looking at some toilets, I think I found the one they installed and it was listed at 250. If that was the case, i had just paid 850 in labor. I call RP to get the model number of the toilet at least 4 times so I could see if the price at the store was off or they just jacked up the price on materials and labor. As of now (Dec. 22) they have not returned my call. The last statement they made was they didn't know if there was a model number!!.
Let this be a lesson to get multiple bids for any work. I also asked them to itemize the work so I could see if the labor or materials were overpriced and they did not respond.
I should have paid the 40 service fee and sent them on their way.
UPDATED:
Brad from RP called me the next day and provided me with the model numbers that I had requested. He explained there was a breakdown in communicaiton at the office and this issue should have been resolved the first time I called. He was sincere in his apology for the time it took to resolve the issue and offered to refund the service contract and a discount on work that was coded improperly. With the proper pricing of the work and being able to determine the cost of the toilet, the price was reasonable. I appreciate the time Brad took to call and explaining the situation and offering to make it right.
Pros: prompt
Cons: no itemization of work done
