For years, the Angelika was the only game in town for these kinds of movies. Sure there was the Quad and Film Forum, but those show a different sort of festival film. Once the Sunshine opened up, though, the game changed. Angelika's an arty theater so I can totally deal with the small screens and uncomfortable chairs. But why does Angelika make everyone line up like cattle before allowing access into the theater? It's really annoying! And the subway rumbling underfoot is annoying, too. The concession stand is overpriced, but they all are, aren't they? The one good thing about the concession stand: they have air-popped popcorn if you want something slightly healthier.
