Both the Food Channel and the AJC highly recommended this restaurant. However, for me, the experience left much to be desired. We found the decor to be plain and the lighting was much too dark; two of our dinner guests could hardly read the menu. Our waiter was pleasant but was not much for giving us ""hints"" as to what we could expect of the appetizers and entrees (perhaps he was just an honest young man and didn?t want to lie). After all, as mother says, ""If you don?t have something good to say ...say nothing at all"". His knowledge of wine was poor. When we sent back a bottle of Merlot he suggested that it needed to be decanted. That was not the problem. \r We were all pleased with the appetizers which were tasty (fried chicken livers with mixed greens and saute of wild mushrooms with cheese and country ham on toast). But our entrees were surprisingly unremarkable and bland. The Beef Stroganoff was dry (yes dry) not creamy with sour cream and it was served at room temperature. The Country Captain (a single roasted chicken breast) was plain and the only thing that made it special was the accompaniment of a small portion of chutney. The chutney was the best part of the dish. My entree was the Low Country Shrimp. It was ordinary, hardly any spice at all.\r There was no special presentation of any sort to any of the dishes, including the desserts, which looked like a kid had cut a piece of cake and just set it on a plate before bringing it to our table. Finally, there didn?t seem to be any theme to the cuisine. I came looking for gold (silver at least) and left finding only nickel. more
