My husband and I have eaten in many great restaurants in Boston and elsewhere. We went to 33 for our anniversary with high expectations and were quite disappointed. While the drinks and appetizers (the corn chowder and the scallops) were good and tasty, the service was terrible, and the entrees and sides were unimpressive at best. The waitress was standoffish from the start. As a single example of the subpar service, our drink glasses were empty for more than 30 minutes before I was able to flag the waitress down for a new one -- and she walked away before my husband could request one as well. The vermont chicken was served practically raw -- and half the meat was actually pork, which I did not expect in a chicken dish, especially as I do not eat pork and certainly would not have thought to ask. The truffle ""mac & cheese"" was flavorless. Perhaps it was just a bad night for the restaurant, but it was one of the least enjoyable meals I've had in Boston.
Pros: Good (albeit expensive) drinks; tasty appetizers
Cons: Poor service; terrible entrees and sides
