He paid with a check from an account that had no funds in it and he put a stop payment on the check before it reached his bank. Since it is not illegal to place stop payments on checks in Mississippi, he makes a common practice and good use of the loop hole. My wife and I have a small business and this type of loss took several months to absorb. This happened in 2004 with no attempt from him to resolve the issue or return the goods. When you pay your bill to him keep in mind that the items you are paying for may not have cost him a dime but it took food off someone's table.
