I used to love the occasional visit to Middlesex, when I felt like dressing up a little and sipping a mojito with a diverse crowd. \r
After this past Saturday, I will never return. With a friend from CA in town for a visit, I gathered a group of 6 well-primped ladies and gents. \r
I was happy to discover there was no line at 10:30, and after all of us paid cover, we cruised right in. Once inside, we discovered that it was not only pitch black, but at LEAST 110 degrees. We had not been informed that there was NO POWER- and hence no soda/bubbly drinks, no AC, and no lights. My friends decided not to stay right away, so I cordially approached the bouncers witha request for a refund. They were brusque in their refusal, so I asked for the manager. I could not have been more shocked at the reception of the general manager. I calmly, respectfully asked for a refund, given that we were not told anything about the state of things inside the club, and he flatly refused, telling me, verbatim ""cover is how we make our money"". I told him that cover was paid with the expectation of a certain level of service- at minimum, a bearable environment!! He was incredibly rude, only agreeing to give HALF of our $30 cover back, even when I flatly told him that without a full refund, none of us would EVER be returning to this establishment, ever. For $15, he was willing to throw away all future business of mine, my friends, and everyone I could tell about this experience. As a marketing professional, this blew my mind. \r
Upon returning outside, I felt the duty to inform people in line of the situation. The bouncer yelled at me, recommending that I ""go online"" to report it. Well, Mr Bouncer, here I am.
Cons: rude staff!!
