Kid friendly is good, right? Well, unless you come with a friend on a Sunday morning and expect to have a leisurely conversation over breakfast. It seeems that the word is out that this is a kid-friendly place. Sub Rosa is a very small restaurant. If there are 25 people in the restaurant, it is full. \r
When we arrived there for breakfast just after 9 am, there were two children under 4 at two separate tables. By the time we left, there were 5 tables with a total of seven children - all under 4. There was one serious shrieking meltdown, which went on for a very long time before the mother decided to take the child outside. There were a few other crying episodes, a lot of rythmic table hitting with various eating implements and a lot of loud MAMAMAMA type of stuff, because that's what toddlers do. And who can blame their parents for wanting to go out to breakfast sometimes without having to get a babysitter? But, it does mean that I will probably avoid the place for breakfast. I felt as if I had just eaten breakfast at a daycare center.\r

So, about the food. They have frittatas, which is what we ordered - that and an eggs benedict with veggie sausage. Both were fairly good, although the frittata was a little on the dry side. They had a very tasty strawberry jam, that appeared to be homemade and the waitress returned often to fill our coffee cups. Although we did not order the challah french toast, people around us did and it looked very good.\r

I've also been here for dinner and enjoyed their pizzas and pasta. I very much like the atmosphere of the place and the owner is warm and friendly. I often see her riding her bicycle with a trailer full of groceries to the restaurant. I will return here for dinner - and I would also recommend it for breakfast, particularly if you have children - or are more tolerant of noisy children than we are.
