Surly Service and Mediocre Food 7/9/2007

Martha's seemed like a good idea - a chance to visit with my son in the fresh air on a Sunday morning over a delicious brunch. The hostess was pleasant and friendly, a bit frazzled, but who could blame her given the numbers of customers baking in the sun, waiting for a table? She said 45 minutes, and we thought that would be ok. An hour and 20 minutes later, we were shown to our sticky table in the corner. We then waited and waited and waited - for the drinks order, for the food order, for the food and for the check. No wonder so many people were waiting so long to be seated. The pace of service was glacial. This would have been forgivable if the food was fabulous, but, alas, it was not. The eggs benedict were cold, the hollandaise cold and frothy, and the pancake utterly unremarkable. The ultimate insult came when we tried to retrieve our check so we could get out of there and were told to sit down and wait for it to come. Have a picnic on the beach instead. This place was not worth the sunburn.. Pros: Nice Location Cons: Poor service and mediocre food more
